How To Think Positive: The Power Of Language.

Why is language so powerful? In this blog we will explore this more closely, and experience how words can create an energy transformation that is long lasting.

There are two types of language... verbal and non verbal. Verbal language refers to the words used, whilst non verbal language is also known as body language. The power behind both of these forms of communication is the energy in which they are performed.

Have you ever said to someone 'It's not what you said, it's the way you said it.'? That's because our subconscious mind will interpret the energy moreso than the words, to determine the meaning of the words used. For example the tone and speed in which something is said. If someone says something to you but the energy used doesn't match what has been said, it's likely you will notice this and seek further confirmation on what has been communicated.

Similarly, the energy behind how someone uses their posture allows us to interpret their actions, to determine what they are doing or how they are feeling. For example, if someone is standing straight and forming a strong posture we could possibly assume they are feeling a sense of strength or confidence. In comparison, someone sitting with their head in their hands could imply they are feeling sad and powerless. With all that being said, there are occasions where it seems we may have misinterpreted language and may need further clarification.

Furthermore, there are occasions when simply changing our choice of words can create an energy shift, within us and others. For the purposes of this blog post, we will be looking closer at the use of words and how this impacts positive thinking.

Let's look at a couple of examples where we can change a perceived negative comment to a more positive one...

  • 'Shut your mouth'

I would appreciate a pause on this conversation right now.

  • 'You're so stupid'

Let's take a moment to reflect on what's just happened.

Simply put, we need to be mindful of the words we say, how we say them, and how we use our bodies. All of this will inspire positive thinking and how we show up in our lives.

Modern life can be hectic. There always seems to be something that needs doing, and our endless to do list can have an unfavourable impact on our day. Especially if we wake up every morning with the energy of dread.

The great news is that we can shift negative energy instantly.

Here's a super simple tool to help you boost your energy (I particularly find this useful in the mornings).

Many moons ago, I used to be full of 'I have tos', starting the day as grumpy as you like... wishing I could just curl right back up and turn over in bed.

Just one word changed how I began to start my day... changing 'have' to 'get'. I have to get the kids up, I have to work, I have to make time for hubby... you get the idea, right?

Great way to start the day... not!

Changing 'have' to 'get', let's see how much more empowering these phrases are now, and feel the energy shift as you read them...

♡ I get to get the kids up,

♡ I get to help the kids get ready for school,

♡ I get to do the school runs,

♡ I get to phone around for my daughter's work experience placement,

♡ I get to work on my business,

♡ I get to spend time with hubby,

♡ I get to have fun creating content,

♡ I get to go shopping,

♡ I get to choose our nutrition today,

♡ I get to overcome today's challenges.

♡ I get to be present... I get to be grateful.

Saying I had to do these things was a massive drain on my energy. Incredible how the energy shifts when we use better language to ourselves, isn't it?

The compound affect was the change in my body language. The energy shift was across my body so I no longer felt tired all of the time. I felt empowered to get through my to do list and seize the day!

What do you get to do today?
